RABA BOARD MEETING Ð January 3, 2007

 

 

PRESENT: A. Booke, D. Folwell, M. Griffin, W. Marsland, L. Meacham, L. Sanders and M. Spence

 

ABSENT:  A. Barnard, S. Barocas, J. Bridges, L. Fox and G. Ride

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm., Alex Booke presiding.  The meeting was held at the home of Michele Griffin.

 

The minutes of the October 18, 2006 meeting were approved as distributed.

 

Warren Marsland distributed the treasurerÕs report which showed a cash balance of $3,302.88 and fixed assets of $8,190.97.  We have received $310 from the Unit for the 299er Sectional loss, $686 profit from the Fall Sectional. $800 has been received to purchase added board for the duplimate machine.  We have a $128 loss from the fall dinner, $972 of costs (mailing, etc.) , $100 of website costs and a total profit year to date of $474.

 

The duplimate machine was discussed and it was concluded that it is working out well. 

 

It was decided to change the times of the Spring Sectional, Saturday games, to 10:00 am and 3:00 pm and eliminate one session.  This was approved by a vote of 6-1.    It was also decided to add  199er games for all games

 

M. Spence and M. Griffin will chair the February 25, 2007 Swiss Team event at the Green Lantern.

 

D. Folwell and L. Meacham will chair the Summer Sectional July 14-15.

 

RABA Dinner will be held Saturday, June 16 at the Lakeville Fire Department Banquet Hall.

 

A. Booke, S. Howe & M. Spence will chair the Fall Sectional September 28-30.

 

Bruce Toder requested that RABA reimburse him $60 for 4 bidding boxes that were stolen from the fall, 2006 event at the Green Lantern.  After discussion and vote (4 in favor, 2 against, 1 abstention) to do so.  It was felt that RABA was not responsible for the loss but as a gesture of good will, we would do so.

 

Regarding Sandy WhiteÕs dog, A. Booke contracted the American Disabilities Association in Washington and was advised that we are not obligated to admit an animal that has become threatening.  He also printed information from their website substantiating the conversation.   L. Meacham will be sending letters to the directors to that effect.

 

250 phone directories will be printed at a cost of $162.50 and sold at $2.00 each.

 

It was agreed that 3 or 4 card tables should be purchased per year.

 

The next meeting will be held Tuesday May 1, 2007 at 5PM at Morgan Estates Community Building the site of the Geneseo DBC.  Dinner will be provided.
