RABA BOARD MEETING       1/9/08

A RABA board meeting was held on 1/9/08 at the home of Sue Baracos

Called to order by president Michelle at 7 P. M.

PRESENT:  M. Griffin,  G. Ride,  S. Baracos,  A. Barnard,  L. Meacham,  L. Fox,  D. Folwell

ABSENT  :  W. Marsland,  A. Booke,  M. Spence,  B. Rosenthal,  P. McFadden

The treasurer's report was accepted

The secretary's report was accepted

     Michelle presented a bridge center report which she had received form the bridge center committee.

At this time, no site has been found.  All available space is either too expensive or too large for our needs.  Any space which is not too expensive or not too large is

missing some necessities, such as good lighting or convenient location.  It was decided to ask the membership if they know of any possible available property which we could use as a bridge center. This request to the membership will be posted on the website.

     A RABA event will be held 2/24/08 at the GREEN LANTERN.  The format will be the same as in past years -- two sessions of bridge plus a buffet.  The cost is

$100.00/team($25.00/person).  Bruce will direct.  If Bruce agrees,  there will be a 299er pairs game  in addition to the Swiss at a cost of $50.00/pair($25.00/person).

The pairs event will be one session of bridge plus the buffet AND if enough interest, there will be two sessions of bridge.  If no interest at all, there will be no pairs event.

 Annette will handle the publicity for this event.

    There were complaints as to some information not being posted on the website such as scores or games being cancelled or locations changing for one reason or another.  It was explained that the RABA website is dependent on the directors for this type of information.  RABA cannot force the directors to use the website.  Annette

and Michelle will meet with the directors informally to discuss some of these issues.

    BRITH KODESH allowed RABA to use a small room to house the DUPLIMATE machine.

 L. Meacham moved to give BRITH KODESH $75.00 to pay for the cost of some electrical work needed for the duplimate machine.

The next RABA board meeting will be March 18th at the home of Sue Baracos at 6:45 P. M.
