SPECIAL BOARD MEETING
Monday, September 1, 2008
The meeting was called to
order at 10:07 AM
Present: M Griffin, M
Spence, W Marsland, L Fox, G Ride, P McFadden
The meeting was called
because it has been brought to our attention that only players who live in our
five county playing area are eligible to be on the
board. There are two candidates on our board slate who do not live in
this area. Lois Sanders explained that the original discussion for this
was that only those who lived in our area could earn trophies. The official playing area was established by UNIT 112.
Players who reside on the periphery of Area #1, primarily play Bridge in the
RABA club games, and support the RABA by-laws can, by way of a written request
to both their UNIT-designated playing area and to RABA, join the RABA
organization, and at the same time, also in writing, rescind their membership
and voting privilege in their former designated area.
Warren felt it was inappropriate
to have Lois speak as she is a candidate. He
also was concerned about Dick Folwell. Michele explained that she and
Dick had discussed the problem and he understood.
The following motion was
made by Margie and seconded by Michele:
At this point, pursuant to
our current by-laws the board will present a slate of eligible candidates for
positions on the board. (This would remove Dick Folwell and Barbara
McBride from the slate.)
G Ride, L Fox, W Marsland,
and A Booke (who did not attend the meeting but was at the playing area) voted
against the motion. M Griffin, M Spence, P McFadden voted for it.
The motion was defeated
4-3. The slate will be presented as previously listed.
The meeting was adjourned
at 10:53 AM
Respectfully submitted,
Peg McFadden
