RABA BOARD MEETING Ð May 1, 2007

 

 

PRESENT:       A. Barnard, A. Booke, J. Bridges, D. Folwell, L. Fox,  M. Griffin, W. Marsland,  L. Meacham, L. Sanders, M. Spence

 

ABSENT:        G. Ride, S. Barocas

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.  A.Booke presiding.  The meeting was held at Morgan Estates in Lakeville.

 

The Minutes of the January 3, 2007 meeting were approved.

 

W. Marsland distributed the TreasurerÕs Report showing that the Spring Sectional made $902.83, the 299er Sectional lost $682.25 and the Swiss Team event lost $64.35.

 

D. Folwell reported on the efforts of the Marketing Task Force.  Their focus has been on the problems experienced by the 199ers (feeling intimidated, etc) and getting them to tournaments.  An effort will be make to get as many as possible to the Summer Sectional and the stratification is to be changed from 100 to 199.

 

W. Marsland passed out the itineraries for the Summer and Fall Sectionals.  There was discussion regarding utilizing a barometer game and it was decided not to.

 

L. Sanders brought up the possibility of using the Strong Museum as a Sectional Site and she will look into cost.

 

M. Griffin to chair the nominating committee.  L. Meacham, L. Sanders, W. Marsland have agreed to run again.  J. Bridges was undecided.

 

L. Sanders introduced the topic of the North American Pairs.  At the last event, there were not enough ÒCÓ players for our area.  The District has decided that any and all units could hold a ÒCÓ game at the next event, October 13, 2007 at the Unit Sectional in Lakeville.  The site that has the most pairs gets an additional 1st place.  RABA to encourage as many as possible to play.  This is ÒCÓ only.

 

The Master/Non Life Master event will be held June 16, 2007 in Lakeville. The site has become available

 

A motion was passed to establish a committee to pursue a bridge center.  This committee to consist of A. Barnard, A. Booke, J. Bridges, M. Griffin, R. Mittleman and D. Wilson.

 

Discussion of the duplimate machine concluded that it was doing well but more hand records were needed.

 

The next meeting will be held July 17, 2007 and the home of Michele Griffin.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 pm.
