Report
on the bridge center
The
committee met on 10/28/07 to begin discussion on obtaining a bridge
center. Members are R. Mittleman,
D. Wilson, B. Rosenthal, A. Barnard, M. Griffin (ex-officio)
1. The number of bridge players in various areas of the
unit were tallied and grouped by rank, place of residence and number of times
they play.
2. Based on these results an Eastern suburb is deemed to
be the best area for a bridge center.
3. We cannot afford a finished site, so the committee is
looking for an unfinished warehouse type facility. In the suburbs some interior work
can be done by members and then
inspected. In the city of
Rochester there are labor rules that
would preclude this.
Tournament
Chairs and directors will be obtained by Michele.

The green Lantern has been
reserved for the games there. The
cost is $19.78 per person, including tax. It was suggested that the charge for players would be $25.00
each, for game and dinner. Board
members are asked to come early and stay late, if possible.
Logistics for the Duplimate
machine were discussed. Doug has
learned how to set it up. Sue and
Lynda will learn. People to
transport the boards to game sites are necessary. Sue and Peg will work on this.
Newsletter distribution was
discussed. It was decided to put
the next newsletter on the RABAbridge web site, with several hard copies
available at games. Gerry will
write out directions on the use of the web site for players who need them.
Michele
will be editor of the Newsletter, or find someone to do it.
Assets
There
are 42 tables ($843.00) at Lakeville, that have to be picked up. Sue and Peg will see to this.
Duplimate machine ($6663.00)
Two tournament signs ($88.00)
Seven tournament plaques ($471.00)
Coffee pot ($78.00)
New business was touched on,
but because of the late hour was tabled until the next meeting. Mentioned was the concern of unpleasant
players and how they affect other playersÕ enjoyment of the game. There is a policy of zero tolerance
with printed guidelines. An
attempt will be made to speak to chronic offenders and to educate players to
call the director if offense occurs.
The
next meeting will be on January 9, 2008, at 6:45 PM at SueÕs house.
Respectfully submitted, Peg
